Enoteca Drago

Dear Love,

Hey, how are you? It’s been forever since I’ve shared with you! I have to tell you about my most recent discovery, it’s a real gem. Like, a real gem, you know what I’m saying? Delicious specials all night long and a perfect happy hour price point. Are you ready?

Enoteca Drago on North Canon Drive. The renowned Drago brothers are renowned for a reason and I swear, this happy hour would be impossible to disappoint even the most critical critics. The menu has a comfortable assortment of cocktail specials and wines and beer. The food menu is pleasing too. Lots of yummy things to choose from...like the fried green olives stuffed with veal, truffled mac & cheese, petite meatballs with wild mushroom ragu and ahi tartar with basil & yuzu vinaigrette. There are more options too, but I didn’t want you to drool too much just yet!

To erase the long day’s tension, I ordered the Bourbon Buck; bourbon, fresh lemon, and ginger beer, which more than took care of me. I find sincere delight in the fact that the later I get into my twenties, the more I know what I like and what I don’t. After years of vodka and rum, I finally discovered that I’m a whiskey/bourbon girl at heart!

Being on a time crunch, I only had time for one drink and one snack. I had to try the fried olives. I am not actually an olive person. I like them in my martinis, but I’m not the first to order olives as an appetizer, however, fry them and stuff them with meat? That’s more my speed.

They came to me in a white glass bowl and sat perfectly crumbed, arranged on top of each other. My fingers grabbed the one on the tippy-top and with extreme curiosity threw it into my mouth. Ooops. They were fryer-fresh and HOT. I should have let them cool first! The second one I could actually taste because my mouth wasn’t gasping for air. The taste of the juicy olive was sour and tart, but the veal filling was spiced and tender. They paired perfectly with my cocktail.

I will make it a point to return to Enoteca Drago, because I have to be sure that it’s not too good too be true!

XX,
Tara
