The Belmont - Happy Hour, West Hollywood

By Maren Swanson

Dear Love,

It's nice when a happy hour is offered on Sunday, right?! My crew and I checked out, The Belmont, for this very reason. This neighborhood bar/restaurant just re-opened recently after renovation (rumored kitchen fire). We rolled in around 4 and caught a booth in the corner, the patio was full. Within 10 minutes of sitting, I ran into 3 different sets of friends I knew (including my boss...ha!), and one of the girl's with me found some familiar faces, too. It felt a little reminiscent of, "Cheers."

The ladies and I ordered a round of beers and then waited for the waitress to return to order appetizers. And waited, and waited and...you get the point. That's the problem I run into at a lot of happy hour spots; lack of service. Once we finally received our dishes, we asked for a round of Bloody Marys. Unfortunately, we missed their, Build Your Own Bloody Mary Bar, that's offered on Sundays and ends at 4pm. We all agreed that the Mary's were far from our top 10 lists. However, we're guessing that if we had built them ourselves, we'd have a far better outcome! The calamari was substantial in portion size (nice) and the filet mignon skewers were marinated and cooked to our liking.

The atmosphere is casual and the music is great, although blaringly loud at points. The open patio is ideal for brunch and the inside offers a darker side of their personality with a real "bar" feel. The Belmont is a fun spot to run into friends or meet some new ones. Maybe I'll let you buy me a drink there next time. ; )

XXOO,

Maren
