Mac n’ Cheese has always been a favorite. Not just for me, but for pretty much everyone. It’s one of the comfort foods we love to…love. However, lately, I’ve been noticing a ton of bars, pubs and lounges are serving a more fancy, grown-up kind. No longer am I satisfied by Kraft (even though it will always be my first love) instead I’m loving when jalapeños are infused in the sauce and it’ll come out in a skillet. Mac has become grown up, hip and a good meal to have a beer with when you’re out*. Here are some of the best Mac n' Cheese dishes I’ve found in Los Angeles.

The Glendon Bar + Kitchen

Jalapeño is infused in the three-cheese béchamel. It’s so tasty it’ll be gone in 5 minutes.

The Mac here comes in a skillet and is also infused with a Poblano pepper. It’s spicy and cheesy and it you need something to wash it down, 3rd Stop has a great selection of craft draft beers.

Yardhouse

The Yardhouse's Mac + Cheese includes applewood bacon, wild mushrooms, cheddar and Parmesan cheeses, chicken breast, truffle oil and campenelle pasta. What?!

Slater’s is a burger place, first, but they have some seriously good Mac. There are four different kinds you can get like buffalo chicken or baked potato.

Whisper Lounge

The Mac n’ Cheese at the Whisper Lounge is a side order, but never has a side tasted so delicious. It has pancetta and scallions inside and the textures of gooey and slightly crunchy make it the perfect combo of queso perfection.

Joan’s on Third**

Technically speaking, it’s the most traditional on the menu, but it looks anything but that. At Joan's on Third, it’s in a rectangular block shape and when you bite into it there will be so much cheese you can hardly stand it. Don’t worry, you will manage to eat the whole thing.
