"Classic LA Happy Hours"

Perhaps one of the best-looking neighborhoods in the world, West Hollywood is creative, cutting-edge and walkable- a rare characteristic in Los Angeles. Tucked between the plethora of edgy boutiques, avant-garde art galleries and sidewalk coffee shops, you will find a treasure trove of happy hours waiting to make your day more colorful. Here are some of the best:

Originator of the now world-famous apple martini, Lola’s on Fairfax offers far more flavors than apple- how about a pickle, cantaloupe or garlic mashed potatoes martini? Lola’s boasts more than fifty unique martinis on their menu, and a few are featured every happy hour on Sunday through Friday from 5:30PM to 7:30PM for a mere $5. Appetizer specials include chicken spring rolls, soup of the day and empanadas with spicy Chimichurri for $5.50 each, and for night owls Lola’s serves a late happy hour on Wednesday and Thursday from 10:30PM to 12:20AM.bluedress

The Cabo Cantina located across from the Standard is a prime spot for people-watching on the strip, and has a happy hour that lasts four hours, from 4PM to 8PM, seven days a week. This lively cantina features Mexican food and margaritas, and during happy hour all drinks are 2-for-1. Grab a friend and say olé!

For those who like their drinks served with a slice of locomotion, the landmark eatery Carney’s located on Sunset Blvd serves treats like chili cheese fries and killer hot dogs- all served up in a bright yellow train car. Primarily a late-night joint, Carney’s busts out the happy hour on weekdays from 4PM to 7PM with $1.50 domestic beers as well as different food specials every day.

Another evening hot spot that also shines during the day is the Belmont Café on La Cienega; arrive during daytime hours and you don’t have to worry about the dress code. Seven days a week from 4PM to 7PM, the Belmont offers half-off all drinks including top shelf cocktails, along with half-price appetizers such as barbeque ribs, fried calamari and fish & chips.

The original location of Barney’s Beanery in West Hollywood isn’t just a great place to wind down after a long day, but is a piece of living history as well- this was once the final destination for travelers on Route 66 heading west. Today you probably won’t travel that far to get to WeHo, but you can still relax like you did during happy hour, which runs from Monday through Friday from 4PM to 7PM. In addition to $2.75 domestic beers, $3 imports and $3.50 well drinks, you can order a smattering of half-price appetizers like fried zucchini, hot wings and Irish nachos.
