"Classic LA Happy Hours"

By Shilo Urban

Los Angeles is a sexy city: young and confident, full of verve and always ready to go. When you add in some sensual delights like hot bacon-wrapped dates or melted cheese crostinis and then splash it up with a cocktail or two, happy hour can be downright seductive.

Why wait for night skies to get frisky? Whether you are with a special someone in search of a romantic evening or looking for love with a group of your friends, you will find no shortage of steamy, sexy happy hours in the City of Angels. Here are our favorites:candles

At The Bungalow Club on Melrose, you and your lover can share plates from the innovative menu – and also share a cabana, curtains closed. With red crystal chandeliers, plush seating and candles aplenty, this warm, Moroccan-style lounge offers happy hour every day from 4PM to 7PM. Big, ten-ounce specialty martinis like ginger pear or mango are only $6, and there is a discounted food menu as well. Film screenings are shown on Monday nights, when happy hour achieves the goal of many males and lasts all night long.

Sharing food is a seductive experience…you decide together what dishes to order, you rub fingers to fingers as you reach for another bite, and you share the pleasure of taste together, enjoying the same flavors at the same time. This is one reason tapas restaurants are so popular, and at Primitivo Wine Bistro on Abbot Kinney in Venice, their small plates are made even better during happy hour on Monday through Thursday from 5:30PM to 6:30PM in the bar. Imagine you're adventuring in Europe as you share $6 plates of bacon-wrapped dates with chorizo, a medley of French, Spanish and Greek olives with sliced almonds and a mezze platter with pita. Sangria, wines and beer are only $4, and a slider will set you back only $2.50.

To really get your fires going, settle down with an ocean view and a private fire pit at Loews Santa Monica Beach Hotel. As the sun sinks into the Pacific, every day of the week from 5PM to 8PM you can sip with your sweetheart or make eyes at the next table over with $6 cocktails, wine and appetizers. This outside lounge serves a good-size happy hour food menuchandelier with plenty to choose from including walnut shrimp, sushi rolls, fried calamari and white chili. Hold the onions, please.

How do you finish off a list of Los Angeles' sexiest happy hours? At the O-Bar, of course. Located in the heart of West Hollywood, this stylish lounge has seductive curves, large booths shrouded in blue and white curtains, organic quartz decor and a secret garden in the back. Tables are small, intimate and perfect for enjoying a few of the O-Bar specialty cocktails like the Fruit Stripe Mojito or Cucumber Martini. Every day from 6PM to 8PM, O-Bar's extensive drink menu is offered at reduced prices. At this trendy new lounge, reservations might be a good idea – but inhibitions never are.
