Awards season is here! We've already watched the Golden Globes and the SAG Awards and next we have the big one: The Oscars. I've been acting since I was the age of ten, so naturally, I anticipate the big show every year with all of its showcased talent, runway looks, flowing champagne and nail-biting wins. Living in Los Angeles and being a union member has been an amazing opportunity to see nominated movie screenings and Q & A's with the casts, so now I'm even more stoked to see which picks take away the statuesque golden men on March 2nd.
As a movie fanatic and mixology maven, I have created a #winning cocktail for the year's Academy Awards: The Best Actress. Make this drink for your friends at your Oscars party and you will receive a standing ovation. This cocktail is refreshing, tropical and oh, so tasty. The star ingredients in this cocktail include: Ty Ku Coconut Nigori Sake, Bacardi Light Rum, Langers Pineapple Coconut Juice, tangerine and mint.
Join me on Twitter on March 2nd, as we enjoy our Best Actress cocktails and live tweet during the show. I have some favorite picks for the categories, but you'll have to stay tuned for my online @Lovehappyhour updates.
Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz Ty Ku Coconut Nigori Sake Mix it: Muddle Tangerine Slices and Mint Leaves in your mixing tin.
Tips: Tear up mint leaves before you put them in your shaking tin.
Included in this month's piece is a video clip from our screening of August Osage County including cast members: John Wells, Meryl Streep, Ewan McGregor, Julianne Nicholson, Dermot Mulroney and Abigail Breslin. It was my second time seeing the movie and I suggest you check it out too.
Here are the Academy Award nominations for Best Actress in a Leading Role:
Cate Blanchett: Blue Jasmine
Now take a sip of The Best Actress Cocktail and take a bow!
Cheers, Maren
