Since Fall is now debuting, I decided to test some new flavor combinations. I started getting busy in the kitchen by making some homemade simple syrup combinations. Using a basic simple syrup is fine, but unique flavored syrups can enhance any cocktails flavor profile and make guests go WOW.

My first attempt at a gin cocktail was, in my opinion, a total success and I hope you will fall in love with it too. I call it The GINger Rogers, and it's made with Gin, apple-ginger simple syrup, Gala apples, mint, lemon juice and Ginger Beer. I started acting and dancing about the age of ten, so Ginger Rogers (a major triple threat) was one of my Hollywood entertainer idols. I never had the chance to meet her, but I hope one sip of this drink would have her singing and dancing. So get out your scarves, pick or buy some apples and let's get shaking!
MIX: Muddle 2 apple slices and torn mint leaves with the apple-ginger simple syrup (see recipe below). Add Gin, lemon juice and ice and shake well in mixing tin. Strain over fresh ice and top with Ginger Beer. Stir. Garnish with apple slice and mint sprig. Serve.
Apple-Ginger Simple Syrup: Boil 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water. While the sugar and water are starting to boil, add the peels of 1 Gala Apple (save peeled apple to make cocktail) and 3 tbsp of fresh grated ginger root. Once your sugar/water combination is brought to a boil and sugar is dissolved, let all ingredients simmer for up to 5 minutes. Next, remove your syrup from the heat and let cool. Strain to remove apple peels an grated ginger then seal in an airtight container and refrigerate for futurre use.
ENJOY!
