Welcome to the month of December. Welcome to traffic happening at odd times. Welcome to walking the mall and someone stopping suddenly in front of you. Welcome to racking your brain to try and figure out what to get for your loved ones. Welcome to seeing that credit card bill and saying “really?” But, welcome to seeing family, loved ones and friends. Welcome to great parties with amazingly awful sweaters and yankee swaps that get out of control. And welcome to your inner lush.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned through the years, it’s that during your party you don’t open the bottle of wine you’ve been saving for months or years. The party is in full steam and everyone is getting a little happy. This is the perfect time to tell your friends about this incredible wine you had to buy and that they should try it. Like I said, do not do this, as bad as you want to, you’ll regret it tomorrow. The best way to make sure something like this doesn’t happen is to be prepared.

Make sure you buy more than enough wine. Only good can come from this, let me explain. If you’re throwing a party, it’s a good idea to have enough wine to go around and to have that security to not have to make liquor store run. I’m sure you’ll attend some other parties, so you can always bring that extra wine you bought. And why not have extra at home any way; is it really going to go to waste? I thought so. The second little tip, go to IKEA; you may have some pretty decent wine glasses and oh yes; you can send at least one to party heaven. IKEA sells Bourdeaux style wine glasses for only $2.00 a pop, so if one or two does break, you won’t be too worried about it. As a joke, you can make your friends feel real bad about it too. You probably have that one friend who is always breaking stuff (I know I do), so they’ll deserve it.

Okay, let’s talk about good wine at a cheap cost for these said parties. Now I’m not going to show you wine that is hard to find, I’ll do my best to give you a wine selection that tastes fantastic and at a $10 to $20 cost.
