Cheese boards are one of my favorite ways to entertain; they are so versatile and such crowd pleasers! While some of my cheese board creations can be simple, others are very creative and include all sorts of fun nibbly treats. Since it’s summer, I try to stick with whichever fruits are seasonal, since those will be the freshest and most flavorful. And if I can’t make it to my Farmers Market that week, I’ll head to my local Trader Joe’s to get everything I need: fruit, cheese, meat, nuts, olives – you name it.
Over the past couple of months, I’ve discovered some fantastic foodie finds at Trader Joe’s that I hope they never discontinue. Have you tried the flavored Marcona Almond varieties they have? INSANE! My last Trader Joe’s cheeseboard "gathering" was comprised to match my summer mood and pair with one of my favorite summer wines: Rosé.
I LOVE rosé wine. I love it so much, in fact, that I did a blind tasting with my girlfriends and we picked 4 rosé wines to review. It was fabulous! We discovered some amazing picks and realized that pricing and beautiful labels don’t always equal a great bottle, but sometimes they do! For the event, The Food Pervert and I wanted to make a cheeseboard the would impress all of our friends, so we headed to Trader Joe's and picked out some delicious ingredients that would pair well with the wines we were about to explore. You’ll notice that the fruit we used on this board combines some common flavors you will find in many rosé wines, so it may help you to better detect the notes in the wine. Also, if they have Driscol's fruit at Trader Joe's, I suggest purchasing that brand. Their fruit is always on point.
So gather you girlfriends, or any ol’ friends and make this incredible cheese board to pair with your favorite rosé wines. Have some favorites you’d like to share with me? Please comment below!
