Crustacean in Beverly Hills has just launched a new Red Hour (aka happy hour) Bar Menu for summer. Stoll in from 4pm – 6:30pm, Tuesday through Friday in the lounge and bar area to enjoy reduced-priced cocktails, including my favorite, 9 Lives: Absolut Elyx Vodka, Aperol, apricot Brandy, fresh lime juice and a pinch of salt.
Following a 10-million-dollar redesign, the restaurant now glows – literally. Walk slightly past the bar to discover a tucked away nook displaying lit candle wicks dancing above a gorgeous floral centerpiece. The bar opens up to the dining side and patio, allowing guests to see the magical mixology moves of bar Manager, Peter Barriga (Barriga ironically translates to “beer belly”).
At the top of the bar, you’ll notice their muse, 1920’s silent Chinese Movie star, Anna May Wong displaying her unique fashion sense of the times and secretly seducing all who stare.
Her inspiration is also found in the cocktail list. One of her biggest movies, Daughter of the Dragon, is also the title of one of their signature cocktails made of Thai Chili Infused Tito’s Vodka, Cointreau, Grenadine, Simple Syrup and Lemon Juice. If they aren’t too busy behind the bar, they may impress you with liquid-nitrogen-cooled coupe glasses for your specialty cocktail.
Highlights from the menu include crispy spicy tuna cigars with caviar, An's famous garlic noodles, filet mignon satay and wild mushroom wontons.
