When you think of Buddha's Belly, you may imagine dumplings, sushi or some other type of Asian fare. However, if you love specialty drinks as I do, then keep an open mind and stop by Buddha's Belly for some unexpected new flavors. If you have visited their Mid City location recently, then you probably know about the adjacent new lounge they've built with Soju-infused cocktails. Did I mention they have all night happy hour in the lounge area, too?
Brian Cousins and his bacon-infused Soju
That's right. Relax before or after your dinner or just stop by for some creative twists on classic cocktails. I would'nt normally think to order Soju, but once I tried one of their new drinks, like Pennicilin, I changed my mind. Soju may not pack the alcoholic punch that other liquors do, but oftentimes that's not necessarily a bad thing. Brian Cousins (formerly of Playa) has developed a unique system of infusing ingredients like Juniper, bacon, spices and other herbs to mimic flavors of classic bar favorites, including Gin and Bourbon.
