Where to Get Your Irish On Without Getting Crushed! March 15th, 2013
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a New York institution for good reason. The historic celebration has marched down the streets since 1762, making it the oldest, biggest, and best parade in the world. This year, the parade takes place on Saturday, March 16, 2013 starting at 11 AM on 5th Avenue around 44th Street. (When St. Patty’s falls on a Sunday, as it does this year, the parade comes early.) It heads uptown, over 150,000 marchers strong, and ends at 79th Street at about 2PM.
There are plenty of places to celebrate along the parade route, but you’ll need the luck of the Irish to get a spot at the bar. The good news is there are plenty of perfectly respectable Irish pubs on the other side of town, far from the carousing crowd.
