In a city filled with many trendy watering holes and fashionable hangouts, Astoria sometimes gets lost in the shuffle. Not only home to some of the best bars in NYC, Astoria's the center of an incredibly diverse collection of multi-cultural hangouts and offers some of the best-priced happy hours in the city.
We'll start from the top down.

If you are in a sports mood, the environment at Bud's Ale House -- located on Steinway and 34th Avenue -- is out of this world. Transpose into a world of 60 large screen TVs and you almost get dizzy. The world-wind continues when you sit down at the gigantic bar and see they have 80 beers on tap, mostly craft and Belgium-style. But the biggest attraction at this testosterone-fueled heaven is the happy hour. From 3 to 7 pm, you can have $4 well drinks, $4 well wine and $5 sangria. Also enjoy shots of Jack Daniels Honey and Sailor Jerry for $5 a piece.

But it gets better.
You could have $2 Bud and Bud Light Drafts as well as $7 pitchers of the same all day and night. Also enjoy $5 margaritas all day long.

Wait, there's more.

Once you think your happy hour ends, don't you worry, the happy begins again at 10 pm and doesn't end till the place closes.

If you are in a international mood though, I wouldn't wait. I would take the stroll to Mojave (31st Street and Ditmars). For the Mexican-themed restaurant and lounge, the competition can get fierce as one of three major Mexican places in Astoria. But they offer some the tightest deals, comparable at any bar in Astoria. From 4 to 7 pm, you could grab $5 margaritas, mojitos, sangria and house wines to go $3 drafts of your choice. And if you get a little tipsy, you could chose from guacamole, calamari, chicken and steak quesadillas for $5 a piece.

If it's good All-American food you are looking for, then take the N train down to Broadway and take a four block walk to 5 Napkin Burger. The meat hooks aline the ceiling and the white tile adorn the walls, giving you the meat-locker feel as soon as you walk in. But the mood gets better at the bar. Not only do you have $2 sliders from 4 to 7 pm every day, you'll enjoy $4 draft beers (most of which include craft beer).

Continue your All-American tour in Astoria and take a stroll around the corner. You'll be surprised at the atmosphere at Uno Chicago Grill. There's always a decent crowd inside, and the bar atmosphere is very much a local vibe. And for a corporate chain, the bargains are great. From 4 to 7 pm, you could have $3 Coors Light, Miller Light, Bud Light and Bud. They offer $2 to $4 appetizers, at the bar only.

Luckily for you, the time is 7:30 and the R train is just a block away. It's always that convenient in Astoria.
