The LOVEnder Cocktail by Maren Swanson.

If you’ve been following my last couple of posts, then you probably have learned that I recently got engaged!!! After about a day of letting the engagement bliss sink in, things started to get a little bit overwhelming. You almost can’t help it because everyone starts to ask, “Did you set the date?” or “Where will you be getting married?” I just let them know that I’m thinking about it, yet I get home and scramble to my computer to start the wedding planning process. This has been happening a lot lately, but in the midst of all the planning, I have to remember to enjoy the fact that we are engaged and be in the moment. The wedding stuff can wait a bit…but then again it’s kind of addicting and really fun!

I’ve been into working with culinary lavender lately and while making my Lavender and Blueberry Ice Cream recipe, I decided to kill two birds and make a cocktail as well! The result is what I like to call an amuse-booze. Get it? Instead of a food amuse bouche, this mini cocktail is an amuse-booze to get your drinking palate excited! So, in order to make this delicious lavender inspired cocktail, you’ll just need to use the creamy ice cream mixture (pre-freezing) and shake it with some ice and good quality vodka to make the most perfect, petite and romantic cocktail: The LOVE-nder.

Lavender and Blueberry Ice Cream Recipe by Maren Swanson.

My LOVE-nder cocktail would be fantastic to serve as an engagement or wedding drink, and it especially looks great in vintage glassware. Just remind your guests to sip this drink – it’s not meant for shooting.

Here’s what I suggest. Plan on making my Lavender and Blueberry Ice Cream and then make yourself a little cocktail teaser with the mix before you place it in the freezer. If you really like drink, you can just re-create the mixture and store it in the refrigerator to make cocktails with for the next couple of days or you can just split the mix in half and have the best of both worlds. Either way, if you are a lavender fan, then I have a feeling you will love my new LOVEnder Cocktail made with lavender, blueberry juice, vodka and some creamy goodness. Cheers!
