The growing trend in New York City these days aren't in the clothing or electronics department. It's not in real estate market, nor will you find it on Wall Street. Rather, New Yorkers have an affection for beer. Over the last year, there's been a significant rise in beer-centric bars. Moreover, these newer pubs just don't carry ritzy, pricey craft beer. These newer bars have gone over aboard with cultivating the ultimate extensive beer list.

In turn, the new wave of gastropubs have averaged more than 20 beers on tap and 30 plus plush beers in the bottle. The more these the bars open, the more these newer bars invest on the state-of-the-art tap-beer system. For instance, in Greenpoint, there's Nordic-themed beer bar called 'Torst'. It has brought in one the most effective beer-coolant systems in the country. Torst, which owns the most impressive beer list in the county, carries more than 30 beers on tap and more than 100 in the bottle.

Today, beer has become the new wine. In Manhattan, beer bars are taken to the next level. At the 'Exchange Bar and Grill' in Gramercy, the have a unique concept. It displays a ticker above the bar. And as customers begin to order a certain type of beer that price goes up. Beers that aren't sold go down in price iust like the stock market. The owners at the 'New York Beer Company' adopted a similar approach and approved on it with a larger selection of beer. The same owners operate two other beers bars with the duo locations named the House of Brews. Just by the Port Authority Bus Station, there lies the 'Beer Authority,' which is multi-level beer haven. 'Beer Authority' houses 75 tap beer, 102 bottle beers and 10 beers in cans. In the summer, it features a roof top open.

Take a quick cab ride across town to the 'The Ginger Man' on the east side and you'll have the most ultimate beer experience. From the rustic decor to the beer selection, the environment embodies the old Bohemian beer halls made famous in Germany. The owners operate Captain Lawrence Brewery in Westchester and feature more than 100 tap beers and 160 more on bottle. But if it's control you want, then go to 'Keg 229' on South Street Seaport. The bar offers you the option to operate your own keg at your table. The state-of-the-art computer system allows you to pour your beer as the bartender measures your amount usage. After your down, you could pay and tip right at your table.

Over the river in Queens, the beer bar revolution continues --predominately in Astoria. 'Buds Ale House' on Steinway is home to nearly 60 large screen TVs and 80 tap beers. A few blocks away on 30th Avenue, there is 'Canz-a-Citi Roadhouse', which specializes in can beers. The bar carries more than 80 different can beers including Pabst Blue Ribbon. About 15 minutes away in Forest Hills, there's 'The Flying Pig'. The gastropub has 40 taps that include local beers like Southern Tier and Newburgh Brown Ale. The soccer on the TVs and the food menu -- which has duck confit and snails -- turn 'The Flying Pig' into English style pub.

The beer bar options are endless throughout the city. Though many believe the era of the beer bar could be short lived, there's many that believe that new bar owners are relegated to creative marketing and new concepts. In essence, the golden era of beer bars will continue for some time.
